Beef and Mushrooms with Smashed Potatoes
For the Beef and Mushrooms:
- 1 lb (450g) beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
- 2 cups (200g) button mushrooms, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley for garnish
For the Smashed Potatoes:
- 4 medium-sized potatoes, washed and scrubbed
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1/4 cup (60ml) milk
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
Beef and Mushrooms:
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat.
- Add sliced beef to the skillet and cook until browned. Remove beef and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add mushrooms and garlic. Cook until mushrooms are tender.
- Return the cooked beef to the skillet. Add soy sauce and Worcestershire sauce. Stir well to combine.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
- Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
Smashed Potatoes:
- Place potatoes in a large pot and cover with water. Bring to a boil and cook until potatoes are fork-tender.
- Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot.
- Add butter, milk, salt, and pepper to the pot. Mash the potatoes until creamy and well combined.
